Take The Initiative

There are times when u doubt whether the decisions that u have taken are right or wrong.
A lot of the times these deicision might seem to have public apporval ,sometimes it might seem the only option.I never doubted my decision to study for iit. There was a lot of reasons for that.
Prestiege involved with clearing the jee, assuarance of a bright future, pseudo fame,
or maybe just the cowardice to accept defeat when already a lot of people knew that i was appearing for jee.
But now that i have been tagged with the the prestiegious tag,i wonder was this what i wanted.

What was it that i wanted?I wanted a peaceful life,a family, a home, freedom from financial problems. And the path i chose to attain these goals? An education from iit, A good job or may be even the oppurtunity to nurture a company of my own.
Unfortunately now i realise that this was not the only way. I am not saying that this is the wrong path.
The argument i m putting forward is that this is a restricted path, I now have few options,or i see only few options with me, my future is now driven by my grades,
better grades better PT,better experience, better campus placement.

Some one from other colleges might give the same argument for their case.
Then is it that this is a universal problem, affecting not just iitians but also other collegians?
I think so.

Then if every one is facing the same situation ,does it mean that it is no longer a problem?
No.It just means that the problem is more deep rooted. The problem lies within us.
We were not taught to feel the things that brought us joy
We were programmed with preconceived notions about what brought us joy -security ,money , respectable job.
Our aspirations are not in tune with our inner self, I should i have been an animator, infact that was my aim in life till jee came along.

And this is where i am convinced that i took the right decision.
For where else in India are you given a chance to paint sketch, and interact with other artist from your coll under the rang group-debate, discuss, agree ,disagree, and voice your opinion and be heard -all in Speakers club.
Stare at stars, watch spectacular meteorite showers...build model planes....the list is endless...if theres something missing, nothing stops me from finding people with similar interest and pursuing it,that too with the blessing of the professors .

But then ,this would be possible in other colleges too.Yes definitely.
And its upto the students there to make it possible.
For even in iit was it not the student who started these clubs?
And it will depend on the initiative taken by the students whether they get to fullfil their dreams along with their passions.
